Popping bags

Popping bags

WALT: make a fair test and find out a really good project to work on for your fair test/science.

So for science we had to work in buddies and decided a topic or project we are going to test. SO my buddie was dion and we didn't have a subject until our teacher showed us this book and we saw something that was interesting, it was popping bags. What we had to do to make the bag pop was to get two different sizes of bags, small and large what we did with these bags was fill the large bag with three big tables spoons into the bag and let all the air out of it, for the small size bag we had to fill the bag up until you could just close it. Then once we did that we put the small size bag into the large bag and we closed the bag up, then dion punched the bag so then the small bag would pop. Then the co2 would fill the big bag too much that it will set of a bomb.

Before we started anything we had to fill out a doc that had all of the fair test information e.g what are we going to keep fair, so then we finished the doc and we started our project. Some of our test didn't work because we didn't put enough vinegar in the small bag, but when it did work it made a big loud noise. What was difficult for this task was planning, because if it will fit or not and what to put on the boards. But after all of that hard work we are proud.

My Mihi

WALT: find and summarise information by identifying key words and main ideas.
- make connections between different texts.
- use evidence(words, phrases and illustrations.) from the text to justify my thinking.
- make a judgement after evaluating information from a range of text.
- use key words to work out what the hidden meaning is.

So this week is moari language week and our class thought that it would be a good idea to make a mihi with game fruit. So we went off and started to create our mihi and some of us in the class have finished. If you don't know what a mihi is I will tell you, a mihi tells all about you like your mountain, river, waka, marea and more, you will know once you have seen my mihi.

This was kinda hard for me because I have not made a mihi in years so that was a struggle. But I made my mihi and now I am very proud of it. Some things that I didn't know was my hapu that was hard because my dad never told me about the old days like in samoa. If you don't like speaking to people in person then make a mihi because they will understand all about you. Hope you injoy my mihi.

A fun infographic

WALT: Think critically when looking at information in different texts.

In my group which is called venus we are reading how is wind made, then we finished the story and then we had to do our activites like normally but then there was one activite that we had to do and that was a infographic, a infographic is something with all the things that show you or tell you more about what we have read. I finished mine and it took maybe 2 days but after all the hard work that I have done, I am very proud of myself.

When I was reading the story I was amazed about all the things that have to be done just to make wind and all the different types of breezes, like land breeze and sea breeze. I was learning more and more as we were going from paragraph to paragraph, it was really fun to learn about wind and do the activities as well. My favorite part about this journey was the infographic because of all the information that I have taken from the text and put it into my own words for this activity.

Persuasive writing

WALT: persuade people on a topic of your choice e.g you want to persuade mum to give you a pay raise.

Why we should play rugby at school

Share - We could share our moves with the kids and maybe your own.

- So if kids are bored they could play rugby on the field.

- So we can teach them how to play rugby properly.

Learn - We can teach them where to tackle and how to tackle.

-We can show them how to defend their try line or how to defend with a line.

Stress relief - So they can let their anger out on a tackle bag.

-They could be angry but when they get on the field and play for the whole game it will tirer them out and they will be happy but exhausted.

-They could be afraid of rugby but trust me once they play the game more often they will get confident and they will want to play rugby games forever.

Why we shouldn’t play rugby at school I am here to explain why we don’t need to play league/rugby to show that our school is strong.

Reason 1 - Because people will get hurt or break something in their body, there was a man who played rugby and he was paralysed from being in a scrum.

 - In schools the principal banned tackling for the kids safety because he doesn't want the kids injuring themselves.

 - I say that rugby is more dangerous than soccer because of all of the contact that is made in the tackles.

Reason 2 - We can explain to them why we should ban rugby at school.

 - Also we can tell them stories about people who have been injured so they will know why we should not play rugby at school.

 - We could show them videos and pictures so they can know why we don’t play rugby.

Reason 3 - so if the kids are feeling really scared of rugby then we could help them get out of the sport and play something else than rugby/league.

 - We could release all the pressure of them because they are not playing the sport.

 - We could explain to them why the sport is too dangerous for them and they will walk out of the sport and play something else because there are many sports that you could play.

I hope this will help you get out of rugby/league and play a different sport like soccer, hokey, baseball, netball, basketball and more. I hope you can make a choice than rugby/league, maybe in the future you could be a star in any sport.

In my writing my topic was why we should play rugby at school and we had to give three reasons in 1 paragragh and I had three paragraghs. It was hard to give good reasons to persuade the reader. Then after I finished my first topic I flipped it and wrote why we shouldn't play rugby at school. That was getting easier but harder at the same time, so I did my research and I found interesting facts and I wrote those ideas in my writing. It was hard but at least I fnshed the work and never gave up.
